I am non-diabetic and I tested my blood sugar. Not sure what it means?

This morning around 7:40, I had a peanut butter sandwich. I tested my sugar and it came out as 124. What does it mean?

Best Answer

124 was your blood glucose level; that is “the amount of glucose in a given amount of blood. It is noted in milligrams in a deciliter, or mg/dL.” (from www.diabetes.org)
That is a perfectly normal blood sugar since you had eaten.

If you had been fasting (meaning you had not eaten anything yetthat day), then a normal reading for a non-diabetic would have been about 70 – 100.

I was Type 1 diabetic for years prior to a kidney/pancreas transplant in 2005. I’m still fascinated to see normal blood sugars at the rare times that I test it.
