Should I ask her to refer me to an endocrinologist?

I think it would be a good idea to get at least one appt with an endocrinologist. Endocrinologists would be more up to date with the latest research and ways of treating diabetes.GPs are good but they can’t know everything – I went to one which had no idea at all about pcos and read info about it to me from a textbook. Another one suggested metformin even though I am not insulin resistant but type 1. And it was the endocrinologist who suggested I be tested for GAD antibodies.

A referral can’t hurt though if you are controlling well enough, they may not tell you anything new.
