I suffer Skipped Heartbeats?

Hi, I am 22 years old and I have been sufferering from ectopic beats for around 2 years now. Before I had them, I was a fit and healthy guy who played rugby, but since then, the feeling of these “skipped” beats, makes me lose alot of confidence, and scares me alot.I was ok with them at first but recently ive been suffering alot of them, around 15 a day. Ive been doing everything I can to try and reverse them, to make them stop..ive lost alot of weight, i stopped drinking alcohol and I dont take drugs or smoke..but this didnt work and they seem to have got no less frequent at all. This makes me wonder if the cause of them is anxiety related since i have had a heart scans and my heart is perfectly normal. Could it be that the cause of my ectopic beats is psychological as opposed to physical? And do you know what treatments would be best? I need to try new things because everything I have tried to stop them does not work. I need help..its starting to get on top of me and stops me from wanting to go out and do anything since i panic when one occurs and this seems to lead to more and more. Your help would be appreciated. thankyou

I get “skipped” beats as well. They can be brought on or made worse by anxiety. So it’s definately helpful to try and seek treatment for anxiety if you are disabled by it (which it sounds as though you may be). Also you said that you lost weight, don’t smoke and don’t drink alcohol but I’m wondering if you continue to take in caffeine. Alot of times caffiene is the main culprit for these things. I’ve had to cut out coffee, any sodas that contain caffiene and quite a bit of chocolate because chocolate contains caffiene as well.
Also, I’ve heard from SEVERAL sources that Omega 3′s (DHA and or EPA) can reduce these considerably for people. I intend to talk to my cardiologist next week about starting a supplement of Omega 3′s.
Also, look into magnesium supplements. I’ve heard that they can help as well.

Remember that even though they are scary and bothersome, without structural heart disease they are really pretty benign and won’t usually actually hurt you.
