Bladder infection becomes a kidney infection?

I have a bladder infection that I think might have become a kidney infection.?

The doctor gave me MACROBID for the bladder.

Does anyone know if that would also cure a kidney infection?

pylonephritis (kidney infection) is diagnosed primarily by punching the patient on the back in the location of the kidneys (approximately where you can feel the lowest rib). This is not a hard punch and is equal to about the force of dropping your fist about 6 inches onto a table that your elbow is resting on.

Have a person pop you in the back over each kidney with the “pinky” side of their fist with the force described above. If you feel a sharp pain, there is a strong possibility you have a kidney infection. If that is the case you should NOT use MACROBID to treat it because it won’t be effective in accessing the infection.

Given the downside of the meds not working if you perform this test incorrectly and misdiagnose yourself it is probably better to go in and talk to the doc about changing your meds.

Depending on how far into your antibiotics you are, you should ask yourself why you think this is a kidney infection.

Thanks… I just started with the meds. I have many bladder infections but this is the first time I have felt Kidney pain. I am going to wait and see if it gets better after the full course of antibiotics.
