Easing Constipation For Someone Gluten/Wheat Intolerant?

Posted by · Leave a Comment

I suffer from constipation to the degree where I have to have a stool softener once every day. That’s kept my fine for the last few years, but I’m having a bout of it tonight for some reason. I have a healthy diet and drink enough water, but I also have IBS which it is probably related to. Anyway, I’ve found it difficult to increase fibre in my diet when I can’t eat any wheat or gluten. Can anyone advise me with some foods that are high in fibre and have no wheat? Also, if you could advise me to how to quickly relice my constipation (wthout the stool softener) that would be good. Thanks.

Long term use of stool softeners can leave your body dependent on them to aid in toileting. To increase motility naturally, with a celiac diet, you can use leafy greens like Kale, Collards, and Swiss Chard. Consume extra virgin olive oil, a tablespoon followed by a small wedge of lemon to cut the taste. Prunes and figs can help as well, along with probiotic yogurts. You need to retrain your body to go without the prompting of the softener.
