I just learned my Tri-Glycerides are 470.
My triglycerides are 470, my Doc. said normal is 170. Is this because I ate prior to the test?
Do you think this could be a skewed number, since I ate not long before my appointment?
Background:
30 yrs old male
185 lbs
6’0″ tall
No alcohol
Quit smoking in June 2010
Thanks

The fast serves a very specific purpose: it gives the doctor a reading of your blood he can use to get the answers to his questions about your health.
Fasting before you go in for blood work gives the doctor a true picture of how your blood looks before it has to do its job. If your fat (lipid) levels are high in a fasting state, then you are at risk for high cholesterol and all of the health problems it can cause: heart disease, stroke, heart attack, blocked arteries and more.
