What should I do about a bloody nail?

Talk about a bad week, I caught bronchitis, then I slammed my finger in my car door. My nail is now black and can move around but it is still attached to my finger. This happened on Wednesday, so the blood has dried. When I cut the nail today the blood was still packed underneath the nail. The best way to describe it is pressure between my nail and finger. Is there any way to make the nail less black and and not feel as pressured? I realize it is not possible to save the nail but it really is uncomfortable typing.

A friend told me to heat up a paper clip and then put that through the nail, so the blood would come out the hole and relieve the pressure. I’m not sure if that will work because the blood is dried. I don’t want to try it and not have it work.

First of all, if you go with your friends “medical treatment” let a doctor take care of that, because 1 the nail isn’t sterelized, and 2 it can get infected and worse.
It is a valid treatment though.

You can also let the nail grow, clip it, every once in a while, and the nail will slowly heel itself.
If the pressure is too much, the nail will just simply fall off, so just put a gauze on it, and you’ll be fine.
