Will my foot smell bad?

I’ve had a below the knee cast for about a month, and was nervous about having it removed. I posted a question on Yahoo Answers, and the responses helped settle my nerves. Someone mentioned the smell would be like a sweat sock, and now I’m nervous about that. I’ve heard that there can be an unpleasant odour. But is it really that bad? Won’t giving my leg a good scrub with Hot water and soap take care of the bad smell? I have a wedding to go to, and it will be bad enough if I have to show up on crutches, now I have to worry about the smell too. Please help.

Thank you for the information. Were you really in a long cast (from your toes to above your knee) for twelve weeks? I don’t think I would be able to handle that. I am only going to be in this short cast for five weeks, and I’ve had so many difficulties. You must have been in a bad accident.
