Why do my ears accumulate so much wax?

In the past few years, my ears get clogged up with wax. Sometimes, the wax just falls out of my ears sometimes because it accumulates a lot of chunks. I’ve been going to the doctor to have it checked once in a while and all he said is that it’s just overactive and there’s nothing I can do about it. I just need to see him annually to get the waxed flushed out. That’s all he said.

Is there something the doctor is not telling me? I have a hard time believing that a few years ago, my ears have suddenly become overactive and started producing a lot of wax? Any advice that will help my ears to stop being overactive?
