Why does the pill take 2 weeks to provide contraception
Help with my contraception ?
well i’m on the pill and on the instructions/ help sheet it says that you have to take it for 2 weeks for it to provide contraception, but my questions is does it provide some small protection after a week or so or does it start working suddenly after 14 days. me and my boyfriend use condoms for the first 3 weeks just to be sure but i’m wondering how it works is it sudden or does the levels of contraception grow ?
i’m on microgynon 30.

It’s gradual, but it’s also to make sure that whenever you start, you’ll be protected before your next ovulation.
If you waited for three weeks, you are ok.
