Question about LSD/Acid

My friend is going to try it for the first time and offered me. I wanted to know all the negative side effects, if it’s addictive, and if it says in your system forever. Also are the trips better then other drugs?

LSD is harmless to the body and mind, it’s not even as bad for you as aspirin. I suggest you just take one hit your first time, because you want to have a good trip, but not an uncontrollable one. There’s always a chance you’ll get a weak hit and barely trip which would suck, but it’s better than tripping too hard because it is very hard to control it your first time. The more intense a trip is, the more likely it is that it’ll be a bad one.

Most people know what a bad trip is but I’ll give you a brief explanation just in case. When you trip (from LSD, shrooms, etc.) the emotions that you are experiencing before and during the trip will be amplified. If you are happy and excited about the experience, and have no recent trauma nagging at you, then you will almost definitely have a good trip. If you are sad, upset, depressed, angry before your trip, you are much, much more likely to have a bad trip. I won’t go into explaining why this works this way but just keep in mind that you need to have a good mood going into the trip. A bad trip is a trip where instead of feelings of mind expanding, joy, and insight the effects become more sinister and the user often feels scared of his/her environment. But it can manifest itself in different ways, there is no way to say exactly what it will be like. Every experience on LSD is different even for the same person upon multiple uses.

A psychotherapist named Stanislav Grof studied in the effects of LSD. Here is a quote from him about the types of people who are prone to have bad trips on LSD.
“…in their everyday life…constantly concerned about maintaining perfect control over their feelings and behavior. They are afraid of temporary or permanent unleashing of instinctual energies, especially those of a sexual or aggressive nature, and of involuntary emotional outbursts…”

Another thing to take into account when you trip is the setting. The effects of LSD typically last (at reasonable doses) 8-12 hours, so you need to have a good place to stay during that time. You need to be in a place where and when you are comfortable and have no responsibilities, stress, and no one who you might run into who wouldn’t approve of what you’re doing (cops, parents, etc.). I suggest you just do it with the one friend, but it wouldn’t hurt to have one or two more there. Some people say that you should have what’s called a trip sitter for your first time (a sober person or someone with a lot of experience with LSD to watch you), I do not believe that is necessary, but it wouldn’t hurt. Even if you trip by yourself, you won’t feel like you can fly and jump out a window or anything of that nature, you are still very aware of your physical well-being, perhaps even more than usual; less likely to do anything that might cause harm to you. My first time our trip sitter fell asleep and we did just fine even in though I we were in my room at my parents house, though that is not an advisable setting. Large crowds of people can be very hard to deal with when you use LSD, so try to keep the number of people around to a minimum. And it is best that you are around people who you are comfortable with, social tension is not conducive to a good trip.

Most of this comes from my extensive experience with LSD. What I list as facts have been researched thoroughly; I wouldn’t tell you them if I did not believe them to be true. Here is a website that has very good information on LSD and other substances all based off of actually studies.

Hope this helps. Safety first but enjoy your trip it will be a wonderful, life changing experience.
