If I’m NOT allergic to Amoxicillin, am I allergic to Penicillin VK?

I have taken Amoxicillin many times in the past with no allergic reactions. I was recently prescribed Penicillin VK (the potassium salt of Penicillin) for a pre-operative surgery prophylactic (to prevent infection). I know that Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic form of Penicillin (part beta lactam ring and part amino ring) ……..

but I am wondering if I am ok with the Amoxicillin does that mean I’d be ok with the Penicillin VK too?

Thanks!!

The likelihood of being allergic to Pen VK and not allergic to Amoxicillin` is extremely small.

Thanks, sure wish you could have went into a little more detail. I like to see the “why” of things and how they work. Thanks again :)
